Magnificent mahogany desk with a mahogany burl flap forming a writing desk. This flap is unlocked by a key in the upper part which also allows the simultaneous opening of the four drawers of this piece of furniture.
Once opened, we discover a large space for work. The frame of the flap is made of mahogany with dark green leather and a golden vignette around the edges with motifs on the corners. At the back, a niche is surrounded by a drawer on the left, creating the illusion of two drawers, and on the right, two other drawers in light wood with mahogany knobs.
The lower part of this desk also has two large mahogany burl drawers in front. One of them is fitted with a sliding rail and four small compartments.
This refined desk rests on four beautiful solid mahogany gadrooned legs.
The upper part is composed of two identical drawers in the same spirit as the lower part. A slightly moulded top with two turned columns supporting a top with an openwork gallery in cut mahogany forming arabesques.
The four drawers and the flap of this desk are closed by a unique system, patented by the Ebénisterie Daubet et Dulmarest in Lyon in the Mid-19th Century.
This rare piece of furniture, in perfect condition, will delight lovers of unique furniture made with quality materials.
